Month Long Ideas
Independent Retailer Month - aka. Small business month is a great time to share your story, who you are, who do you serve (products or services you sell), how or why you started your business and it’s a great time to shout out some of your favourite small or local businesses by tagging them in posts or stories.
Ice Cream Month - take your followers on a journey and explain how new ice cream flavours get created, some brainstorming to production, share behind-the-scenes of your process and ask your followers to vote on what your next flavour should be!
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream... and content ideas!
Ideas for (Almost) Every Day of the Month
July 1: International Joke Day - share a funny joke with your followers and get them laughing. Add a CTA, tag a friend to spread the laughter.
July 2: National I Forget Day - play on the concept of “so you don’t forget” and share a carousel post they should save for later or promote a lead magnet/downloadable resource so they won’t forget a specific topic.
July 3: Disobedience Day - breaking the rules is a necessity for invention and creation, share about how you break the rules, what is your competitive advantage? How do you do things differently in your business, or with a specific product or service? Share that with your followers and invite them to work with you or buy your product.
July 7: Tell the Truth Day - share insider info about your business or industry, something people wouldn’t expect (ex. To tell the truth,... as a social media manager, I don’t like doing my own social media - kidding, but you get the idea!).
July 8: National Video Game Day - ask your followers to vote, if your business were a video game which one would it be (share a few existing examples) or invite them to comment a name for your business video game.
July 10: National Pina Colada Day - remix the famous song “if you like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain...” and make it things your ideal clients like, for example: if you like having fun and making money from your social posts then let’s work together!
July 12: SImplicity Day - keep it simple! Share a tip on how you streamline your business or how your products and services streamline things for your clients.
July 13: Embrace Your Geekness Day - we all have an inner geek, let your followers get to know you by sharing something you geek out on, like an about me post. Psst. If you miss this day you can use July 15 instead, it’s Be A Dork Day.
July 15: National Give Something Away Day - can you say giveaway? Or this is a great day to promote your lead magnet on social media. Make sure there’s a link in the post (FB) or in your link in bio for followers to easily sign up to access it.
July 17: World Emoji Day - have fun with today’s post and write it using only emojis! Or create a comment box and ask your followers to share the 5 emojis in their recent section. Share the answers and ask people to create a story/guess what the emojis were used for. This is a great way to engage your audience and start conversations/
July 20: National Moon Day - how does the moon relate to your business? Do you follow lunar cycles (for female entrepreneurs). Alternatively, you can share “shoot for the moon” about what you’re shooting for in your business (a goal you have).
July 21: National Junk Food Day - share your go-to indulgence, or your favourite food product in your store.
July 25: National Thread the Needle Day - I enjoy sewing projects, use this as an excuse to pull out and share a picture of your current craft projects. Followers that know you, like you and trust you are more apt to work with you so help them get to know you when you’re not working on your business.
July 26: National All or Nothing Day - share your favourite product or service bundle with your followers and invite them to purchase or book a call to learn more about how this bundle will change their life or business.
July 28: National Hamburger Day - bring on the burger recipes! I can’t be the only one that actually goes back and uses recipes I’ve saved, right?
July 29: Rain Day - What should your followers save for on a rainy day or what should they spend their time doing on their next rainy day? (If it were me, I’d say email marketing!).
July 30: International Day of Friendship - encourage your followers to become your friend on your email list to get all the inside info you share there!
July 31: Talk in an Elevator Day - awkward but sometimes rewarding, use this day as a reminder to start random conversations because you never know where your next client might come from.
Remember to only use the ideas that relate the best to your business and try to limit the number of posts you're creating for these National holidays to a few. they should be a fun way to shake up your content mix but shouldn't be the foundation of your strategy!
