Table Of Contents

Month Long Ideas

  • Valentine's Day - isn't just for couples, it's for self-love, gal pal's, pets, you name it! Valentine's is a holiday all businesses can celebrate for the whole month or just until Feb 14. Motivational posts, affirations, journal prompts etc. are all fantastic ways you can add value and connect with your audience. Sales and promos are optional but also common this time of year too. See what aspects of your business, and your ideal clients you can spread the love with/around and build that into your content calendar!

  • Black History Month - is about celebrating inspirational Black figures and educating people about the history and experiences within the Black community. The content that fits well for this is posts using storytelling to share about personal experiences, and carousels sharing history, education and facts/stats related to this topic. If this topic aligns for your business, you'll know exactly what to post.

  • National Library Lover's Month - have you published a novel that's in the library's collection? Head to the nearest library and snap a picture of your book on the shelf. Add a caption talking about your experience writing your book and include a CTA to purchase (so you don't have to wait for it to be available at your local branch). If you're not an author, share a favourite read in your stories and ask your followers to comment their thoughts if they've read it Or give away a free chapter or a special bonus if your followers buy your book today. You could do a chapter reading as an Instagram live as well, that's a fun way to create a personal connection with your audience.

  • International Vegan Cuisine Month - if your products or services include vegan food options it's time for you to feature those food ideas, products or services! Consider sharing recipes, cookbooks and cooking tips for your followers that are interested in starting a Vegan diet.

Week Long Ideas

  • National Storytelling Week (Feb 1 - 9) - create a series of posts telling a story (also send these stories out to your email list). If you're not sure what story to tell, share the story of how and why you started your business. You need to talk about this regularly so we connect with your businesses' mission and are inspired to work with you or purchase from you. Every business has a powerful story, don't let yours stay hidding in the dark!

  • Random Acts of Kindness Week (Feb 14 - 20) - can you business participate? Is there something small you can do everyday to spread kindness with your audience? Try thanking a customer by tagging them in a story, share a fellow business owners account and ask your audience to follow them, randomly gift one of your followers a free product or mini service etc. Have fun with this and your audience will keep following along to see what you do next.

Storytelling can be done through words, images or video. Find a format that works for you!

Ideas for (Almost) Everyday of the Month

  • February 1: Optimist Day - be optimistic and share a post or story outlining one thing you'd like your audinece to do. It could be like this post, comment, save or share. Or you could ask them to download a free resoruces, check out a podcast or vlog etc. You could send out this rewuest via email as well for increase engagement.

  • February 2: National Work Naked Day - Yup, this is a thing. If you decide to partake in this day I highly recommend staying OFF social media or your account will get flagged for violating Instagram's rules and regulations.

  • February 6: Pay A Compliment Day - pay a compliment to a client by sharing a testimonial they've provided and sharing it on social media and tag them with a note in the caption thanking them for their kind words.

  • February 10: Chinese New Year - the colour signifying Chinese New Year is red. It's the perfect opportunity to promote your red products. Create a fun story template using Chinese New Year symbols like fireworks, red envelopes etc. and add product pictures and links for people to purchase.

  • February 11: Make A New Friend Day - share a reel with different b-roll video clips of yourself and introduce yourself in the caption. You always have new followers so it's important to introduce yourself regularly so your new followers feel welcome!

  • February 13: Get A Different Name Day - if you've rebranded your business recently tell the story of why you changed your name. If not, a fun take on this would be to create a story using the 'Question' sticker and invite your followers to rename your business like "movies explained poorly", share some of the runny answers in your stories the next day. This is a lighthearted way to engage your audience and start conversations in the DM's.

  • February 13: Mardi Gras - even if you're not ready to pull out the feather and march in a parade you can infuse colour into your content today. Get on your Instagram stories and see what stickers are trending for Mardi Gras and use some (that feel aligned) for your content to celebrate the day.

  • February 14: International Book Giving Day - there are so many opportunities for authors to promote their work, this is another one. Consider doing a give away of a signed copy of your book for someone who swipes the 'Slider' bar on your story that day.

  • February 17: My Way Day - create a reel of your talking to the camera with the hook "if I had my way... everyone would stop _". and then explain why people should stop doing that. This is a great way to educate your audience and position yourself as an expert in your industry.

  • February 19: International Tug of War Day - ask your audience to play tug of war in your stories by voting for their favourite _ (something related to your business, Ex. favourite face mask)

  • February 20: National Love Your Pet Day - we all love our furry friends, give yours a shout out in a post today. Easily turn it into a carousel post by sharing several pictures of your pet(s).

  • February 22: World Thinking Day - create a b-roll reel with the hook "I've been thinking..." and use it to sell your products or services. Ex. I've been thinking... it's time you start email marketing to generate consistent sales in your business. I can help!

  • February 26: Carpe Diem Day - invite your followers to seize the day and buy from you or book a call to work with you. Use the CTA in the caption to provide instructions on how exactly they take that action. Try to avoid saying "use the link in bio" as it will decrease your conversion rate.

  • February 27: Fairtrade Fortnight - this is for product based businesses that have fair trade practise for their products. Many people don't know what fair trade means, this is your opportunity to do a mini series of posts and emails explaining fair trade practises, and why it's important to you as a business owner to do this.

  • February 28: Inconvenience Yourself Day - pick something that would be inconveneit for you and offer to do it for a day as a bonus for your followers. For example, maybe you do an 'Ask me Anything' in your stories, or you offer to do a mini audit or review of something that will help your followers.

  • February 29: Digital Learning Day - calling all course creators, promote your course today! Shamlessly plug it in your feed, in your stories, in your email. Shout it from the rooftops that you have a course that can help me and make it easy for them to dive in. If you don't have a course yet you can still share access to any freebies or lead magnets that will help your audience and grow your email list. And if you haven't checked out my signature course, Profile to Profit: 6 Steps to an Instagram Profile that Converts, you really should!

Remember to only use the ideas that relate the best to your business and try to limit the number of posts you're creating for these National holidays to a few. they should be a fun way to shake up your content mix but shouldn't be the foundation of your strategy!
